The status banner at the top of this page runs a live check against YouTube every time you load or refresh the page. Green means YouTube is reachable from our servers; red means our check could not reach it, which usually indicates a broader outage.

Our servers send a request to YouTube and measure whether it responds (and how fast). We run this automatically around the clock and store each result, which builds the 30-day uptime history and incident log shown below the live status.

If our check shows YouTube is up but it's not loading for you, the issue is likely on your end: try refreshing, clearing your cache, restarting your router, switching networks (e.g. mobile data), or updating the app. A VPN or DNS issue can also block YouTube locally.

Any day where one or more of our automated checks failed to reach YouTube is logged as an incident, marked as a major outage (all checks failed) or a partial disruption (some checks failed). YouTube global outages are rare, so most days show full uptime.
